Anhydrous magnesium chloride is a white, shiny hexagonal crystal with a melting point of 714°C and a boiling point of 1412°C.The hygroscopy is very strong， higher than Magnesium chloride hexahydrate and Magnesium chloride dihydrate. The physical and chemical properties are basically the same as magnesium chloride hexahydrate.
